If you live in an area with hard water, you can still add a bit of dishwasher salt without any issues.
Rest assured, your dishwasher will work perfectly even if the indicator lights for rinse aid and/or salt are on. The washing process won't be affected, even if there is still some rinse aid or salt in the machine.

Since the ingredients are neutral, the dishwasher tablet also has a neutral scent and will not cause bad odors in a clean environment (e.g., a clean dishwasher).
